Fashion Tip of the Week .50

So wow, 50 posts. what a great achievement. How great has it been since I first started this. What was supposed to be just for a few friends turns into something so much more than that. How cool is that.

Fashion Tip of the Week #50: But because I know people dont go back into my old posts, I'm going to do a repost because I think its the season for it. Everyone, I am talking about SALES!!! Yup thats right, when is the perfect time to go.

The perfect time to go shopping is at the end of the season clearance...

For spring its Late May/Early June

For summer [even tho most retailers dont have a summer-line..usually leftovers from spring] its end of august/beg. september.

For Fall, [back to school] its end of november to early december

For Winter its Mid-March through early april.

Then you have those semi-annual clearance sales... those usually happen mid season. OR the mid-season sales which are kind of a rip off cuz you get crappy prices when you know if you wait several weeks. It will go on sale for a lower price. But if its limited...then you should get it then. NOTE, midseason sales mean the 2nd part of their seasonal line is coming out and they are trying to make way for new crap. So look out for that. Some retailers try to rip you off then. AND REMEMBER... buy things you are actually gonna wear and that you know i would approve of (lol...jk)...but really pick out things that are flattering on you.

Featured Item of the Week: is finding me the perfect birthday present. Haha j/k. A lot of people feel like gift cards are the most inpersonal thing you can get someone. The best gift you can get someone is a gift card from AMEX/VISA/MASTERCARD. Yes thats right, from a bank. At least then, they can spend it on whatever they want and you will have the satisfaction of getting them something they really wanted (or helping them pay for those credit card bills _lol).

Fashion Tip of the Week .49

So ive finally made my decision on what i wanna do with my blog, but imma wait till my 50th post to let you know what that is (but you still have the chance to sway my decision)...hmmm what is it?!

Im almost at 3000 views! I need 52 more views and I need 8 more comments!!! Come help me out this week! Post like crazy! Spread the word of my blog! For the amount of people that normally read my blog, I am truly honored by the strong response that I've received. Thank you.

Fashion Tip of the Week #49: So Im trying to wait to give you guys a spring preview until it hits like mid-end November because spring is so far away. Now a lot of my girls know that im not big on dresses over jeans. But layering is in this season and is taking on a new version of layering. So ladies, this is addendum to my "Rules of layering" blog (fashion tip #16).

My Rules:

#11- Shirts with an empire cut that stops at the hips gives the dress over jeans effect.

#12- Mix different fabrics to give a textured look

#13- Deconstructed layers are always a plus, they fill in parts that the other layers didnt cover

#14- Belts are accessories, not layers!

#15- If you intend on wearing a coat or sweater, half-button or half-zip it up. Remember, the point of layers is to show off those layers, not hide them behind something.

Featured Item of the Week: Remember that horrendous trend in which every girl had those metallic bags? It got so overbearing that most girls ended up throwing their bags away! So here is the skinny. No more part metallic or what not. Ladies... full on metallic bags are the hottest accessories this season. For example, this Louis Vuitton Speedy Miroir bag in silver. Asking price for this piece of lovely, $1,150. Ladies, im sure you find a way around that.

Fashion Tip of the Week .48

Fashion Tip of the Week #48: So ladies, this week, I am going back to one of my favorite segments of my past blogs. And that is picking out pieces to make a complete outfit.

Look 1_ "Winter-warm". Take this puffed sleeved turtleneck, pair it up with denim shorts and finish it off with these buckled boots. Pull back you hair into a tail and you got a fantastic outfit for a trip anywhere. That is what we call a perfect casual outfit! It embodies all elements of fall wardrobe.

Look 2_ Looks can be based off anything... in this case, Steve Maddens, emphasizing one of the season's hottest trends in shoes, the peek-a-boo toe shoes, any outfit is possible. Take some skinny jeans (any color would be fine) and add a short sleeve smocked turtle-neck. In terms of accessories, a solid color knit golf hat would be perfect to add to it. Perhaps some metallic bangles and clutch to finish off the look.

Featured Item of the Week: So this week's featured item is one that will add a touch of sex appeal to any outfit. Think of this as an accessory to complete your look. This accessory is fake eyelashes. That's right ladies. Eyelashes can do so much to your outfit. It can kick it up a notch. A lot of the looks done with your eyes like smoking out the eye with a blend of shimmer and eye shadow is reminescent of Cleopatra. And the best thing about it, they are affordable.

Fashion Tip of the Week .47 [Guy's Edition]

So this time around, I havent really done a real guy's update. Sorry girls, next week okay? But this tip can also be used for your man. Remember, girls have power when it comes to dressing their man. haha

Fashion Tip
of the Week #47 [Guy's Edition]: So alot of what I've said was already been stated... knits etc... Its tough trying to find new styles to each season. But alot of the rules that apply for women is the same for men. For this season, layers are important. Here are key things/looks that are the essentials for your autumn-winter wardrobe.

1_ Parka, fur trims are the in thing.
2_ Button-up or Pull-over vest off-setting the basic layers... layers are in.
3_ The studded belt is an added "to make it your own".
4_ Skinny ties
5_ Small plaid prints
6_ Knit Scarves
7_ Dress shoes, cmon everyone needs one! Added to wear with casual outfits
8_ For the modern guy, sheen is the new color
9_ Anything Merino - for those who dont know, its a type of material
10_ BULKY knit sweaters

Featured Item of the Week: So living in California, the sun is either your friend or your enemy. To protect your skin, I would recommend getting Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Sunblock. Its affordable and worth every penny. It protects your skin and acts like a moisturizer! Stop by your local Wal-Mart or Target to get it.

Fashion Tip of the Week .46

Fashion Tip of the Week #46: I wrote a note to myself to discuss one of the breakout designers among the fall 2006 collections and I forgot to. So here is my shout out to one of the collections that I absolutely loved.

Peter Som is the designer I wanna discuss with you this week. Here are some of the things you have left to wear till end of January. I think his collection sums up what this season's trends are.

Here just take a look at some of the stuff that I loved.
Look 1
_ High rise pants with waist cinching buckle
Look 2
_ City shorts with subtle metallic threads and a subtle fur frock.
Look 3
_ Velvet skirt with a over-embellish print chiffon blouse
Look 4
_ Subtle usage of metallics. Round neck tops w/ pocketed a-line skirts (w/ minor roushing)
Look 5
_ The epitome of the warm-weather dressing. Cute aint it? Perfect for any body type. If you are tall then it will end up looking like a baby doll dress. If you have a wide waist, the long bow strand draws attention away front the waist and elogates your height. This dress is truly versatile.

Featured Item of the Week: So after defiant attitudes towards leggings, I concede and will finally suggest (with caution) leggings are okay to wear provided that you have "legs for days"! Meaning, leggings aren't really meant for girls with big thighs. Seriously dont do it. Instead, for girls who are a bit on the "lots more to love" side, I would recommend another product for you girls, Spanx. From what I hear from all of my girl friends, they work and are comfortable and affordable. So find them at your nearest department store.

Side note: I just want to say that I make no apologies for the comments that I make on here. We all know its true, except I point it out. I am anything but discriminatory and have friends of all sizes that I make suggestions to. To me, all body types are beautiful, but beautiful is also wearing the appropriate garments to fit your body-type.

Fashion Tip of the Week .45 [Guys & Girls Edition]

So wow, tip 45, almost reaching # 50! How exciting. So I'm thinking of a make-over for this blog; specifically, perhaps making it into its very own myspace page.

Fashion Tip
of the Week #45: So this week, I thought I'd elaborate on the knit idea and how you can adjust it to fit you. Remember, knits encompass ALOT of things. It could be a vest-pullover to knitted sweaters that your grandma gave you. ALOT.

Guys_ Here are some fantastic looks that mixes vintage chic and fashion forward looks. This is from DSQUARED2 Autumn/Winter 2005:
look
1 ~ this look emphasizes the fur trim on jackets. I turn back to their old collection because ALOT of the trends from A/W 05 returned. Hats are also a big plus this autumn/winter season.
look
2 ~ The professional knits. Here is how to incorporate knits back into your wardrobe without it being too casual. Emphasis on the v-neck vest-pullover. Punch ur outfit up with a black peacoat with brass buttons for a napoleonic era look. Simple stuff like that can make a HUGE difference.

Girls_ now i turn to Michael Kors Fall collection 2006 for the knit looks...
look
1 ~ This everything i want you to be wearing. To add some color, take a bold wide red belt and create a waist by placing it below your bust line. Add some 'net-stockings and bust out those red shoes you have been saving to wear for a special occasion.
look
2 ~ here is a way to take those city shorts that you have in your closet and mix it with your autumn/winter wardrobe. This look takes what could be drab into something fashionable. Take ur knitted sweater (which you use as a shirt), add a touch of the right accessories (skinny/thick scarves and mesopotamian bangle), add the city shorts and BOOM you got urself a quality outfit.

Featured Item of the Week: So this week u'll thank me... Continuing my mixture of expensive and cheaper priced items... go to your nearest PAYLESS Shoe store and get a pair of these boots. GIRLS, boots with buckles are a strong trend and to get what would be $500+ boots for only 45 dollars is a steal. The label: Abaeté; Boot name: Sky boot in black satin from designer Laura Poretzky.

Fashion Tip of the Week .44 [Guys & Girls Edition]

So this week's entry is jam packed full of goodness. Lets get going!

Fashion Tip of the Week #44: So ladies and gents, after much research about whats coming in, the general consensus for fall-winter is that the knits are back!

Knits_ Im talking knits galore! Guys: Knit turtlenecks with extra ruffle-age and girls: wearing full on knit dresses. I know its hot right now but once it cools down you'll see alot of knits coming out. Girls, think, Daniel Vosovic's dress with pockets (thats a personal shout out to my girl Lauren) but knitted instead.
For references to knits, I would suggest browsing through Vogue/Elle.

Honorable mention goes to...
Napoleonic_ I've already mentioned this once and I'll mention it briefly again, peacoats peacoats peacoats! Brass and/or detailed emobroidery counts!
Fur trim_ People who LOVE Burberry, check out their latest campaign. If you are anti Napoleon then this is the direction you wanna head to. Parkas and Knee-length coats with fur trim or the simple A-line skirt with the fur trim on the bottom. Tres chic.

A small note for guys: The skinny is in for guys too! Its not longer tailored for girls only! Get into the groove and join the craze. Designers are throwing away those flared/wide leg jeans.
For references, I would suggest browsing through GQ.

Featured Item of the Week: So alot of the stuff I feature here are pretty expensive and as we all know, most of us cant afford it. So my featured item of the week is American Eagle's new underwear line for girls. Aerie is the name. And from what all my girl friends say about their underwear, its well worth taking a look into it. The best part about it... its affordable underwear that is quality. So check that out.

Fashion Tip of the Week .43

Alrighty... here is another for you girls... Incorporating one of the fall hottest trends in your outfits.

Fashion Tip of the Week #43: So girls, one of the biggest materials that are making a comeback for fall is velvet. Yes, velvet. You're probably thinking where did it go in the first place? But subtle hints of velvet here and there can go a long way!

If you arent into wearing full on velvet for fall, here is a cheaper alternative to what you will be seeing in this week's featured item of the week. So, here is a way to add a touch of class to your outfit. Take a ribbon of velvet and tie it around your waist below the bust line. Just like this top.

Featured Item of the Week: So we know that the obsession has been that girls should find ways to show their curves... Here is a guarantee to show that hour-glass figure. This patent leather belt from Tracy Reese which sells for $355.

Fashion Tip of the Week .42 [Girls & Guys Edition]

Fashion Tip(s) of the Week #42: So for this week, 1 tip for the guys and 1 tip for the girls!

Guys_ The forecast for fall is layered 19th century looks. Why not reincorporate a vest into casual wear. Use a casual button up and some skinny jeans with decent loafers and u got urself a full on outfit. Doesn't always have to be for going out!

Girls_ Like the featured item, accessories common among girls are the clinged up metals and silvers... But the flapper years are upon us and why not incorporate pearls into your deconstructed look? Off layers with waist-puffed shirts. Modernizing the flapper years is at its mid-life cycle. So jump on the bandwagon and wear it well!

Featured Item of the Week: We all know it is expensive to buy accessories. But what about affordable jewelery that looks like Charlize or Halle wore them? Dana Lorenz's diffusion line is the place you wanna look at! This one you are looking at is cinnabar and brass (all real items!). It doubles as a necklace and a belt! $295.

Fashion Tip of the Week .41 [Guys & Girls Edition]

Okay people! another tip of the week! lets roll.

Fashion Tip(s) of the Week #41: So for this week, 1 tip for the guys and 1 tip for the girls!

Guys_ Try adding a little something like suspenders to your outfits. You will see alot of designers moving towards suspenders for Spring 2007! Try pairing them with deconstructed chinos or dress pant shorts. Be fashion forward!

Girls_ So since not alot of girls can find that perfect city shorts. For girls with larger thighs, you might want to consider cuffed shorts. And for girls who have smaller thighs and lack of a tush you might want to consider finding city shorts WITHOUT rear pockets and non-stretch. Here is an inside tip that pockets elongates the rear thereby giving an appearance of a long rear instead of a plump one! good luck!

Featured Item of the Week: If you girls love your handbags... here is the must have item for the fall. The Gryson leather Skye bag in Smoke for $659. Joy Gryson made her mark in designing for Coach, Calvin Klein and Marc Jacobs. So you know she is legit!

Fashion Tip of the Week .40

I like to introduce a new feature to my blogs. And instead of listing tons and tons of this seasons must-haves at once, I present the new category "Featured Item of the Week".

Fashion Tip(s) of the Week #40: So for this week only (because of my return), I will offer several tips, but I will be scaling back a bit to allow myself enough material to last more weeks. I usually supply enough material to last months in one blog.

Fall Trends:

*_metallics- its back! Bust out those metallic shoes that were sittin in the closet and for those who are really daring, a metallic clothing piece.
*_Waist bubbles- what this is basically "puff" pieces. Things that puff up at the hips. Par example or this one.
*_Fur- furs are coming back in. Whether your preference is faux or real, a blend of fur/fabrics, In My Opinion, is better. 1, 2, 3
*_Oversized- This is really for the business-minded person. High-rise, wide pant leg opening. 1
*_Layering- enough said. Over-layering is the in thing
*_Napoleonic- brass buttons, tailored jackets, you get the idea. 1

Featured Item of the Week: If you girls can find a look-a-like or actually daring to buy the real thing... The Dior Stiletto needle-nosed toe. $395

Fashion Tip of the Week - Special Edition [Part 2]

Okay so here is part 2! Woohoo! This is the quick guide to the latest fashion in several bullet points with commentary.

Fashion Tip of the Week - Special Edition: Here we go!

1_ Ladies, SUPRISE SUPRISE, I am finally advocating a particular type of wedge. Yes I said wedge! Move to the side Manolo and Jimmy, Monsieur Christian Louboutin is the latest hottest shoe designer. He is known for his unique wedges. I found almost the same design at Charlotte Russe for 25 bucks. I am only advocating wooden wedges!

2_ Catch on the wide waist-cinching belt trend. Ladies, i beg of you, do not wear the belts by your hips as some sort of "fashion" its over.

3_ Military is only for the fellas. The trend is so out for girls.

4_ The new style, meeeow, its the cat print. Its making its return.

5_ For both genders, the nautical look is still barely catching on. So be fashion forward. Embrace the stripes, navy blue, whites. Majorly hot.

6_ Skinny Jeans. Ladies, skinny jeans are only made for skinny people. If you are on the somewhat heavier side. Do not attempt to wear them! And for the skinny ones, please wear it with stilettos, NOT wedges. Its the look, not the comfortability.

7_ Frompy/wider tops. They are in. perfect for any girl. If you havent caught on yet, big tops, small bottoms. For example: Balenciaga

8_ The new thing about tops: less flashy with details like darts, stitiching and pleats.

9_ You can wear the shorts professionally. Its okay. Just make sure they are like dress pants material.

10_ And your ultimate accessory, BIG BAGS ladies! They are getting even bigger!

Hope this helped! And remember...

Fashion Tip of the Week - Special Edition [Part 1]

Wow, what a great feeling to be back. I have finally completed my collegiate academic career and im ready to jump back onto the runway and show you some new things! It's quite exciting. I must however caution one thing to y'all. Ive given up much shopping trips due to the fact that I am a broke graduate. Expect condensed and short tips. But because this is a special occasion im treating you to a lot. Lets get this ball going!

Fashion Tip of the Week - Special Edition: So lots to talk about. I want to take you ladies from a morning to evening day outfits.

Morning-
Good Morning sunshine: Time to get ready for work and what do you need to be wearing this season? For you tall ones: High-rise pants and a blouse. Yes ladies high-rise pants are back in. Im talking waist high. For you short ones or more curvacious ones, waist high/above the hips ladies. Go with the safari colors (Different from African my friends). And pair it up with a skinny belt, EVEN, suspenders! I want you to think, "power bitch/woman".

After Work-
Whew, its after work and you're ready to get into something more comfortable. Well, how bout:
Look 1_ cropped shorts or dress shorts with heels with a blouse and stilettos (wooden heeled wedges are optional but not recommended).
Look 2_ skinny jeans with a frompy top (that fits!). Add stilettos with a rounded front or narrow/pointy ending.

Evening/Going Out-
Ladies, there is nothing better than a slinky black dress. You cannot go wrong with that! Or how bout the revitalization of the red dress. Ladies red is in. Go with light materials such as chiffon, satin, and silk.

For the casual outting-
Its hot, skirts my friends, skirts. If not, cuffed or cropped jeans. That is the route you wanna take. Pair it up with a frompy top or just your avg. vintage tee. Hot. This is your time to be unique.

Check out part 2 of this special edition blog!

Fashion Tip of the Week .37 [Guys Edition]

So my friend just alerted me on some interesting news. I thought I share with y'all. READ UP!

Fashion Tip of the Week #37: So apparently one of the most famous FEMALE retailers are branching into the men's territory. This retailer is infamously known as... FOREVER 21! yes guys, soon your girlfriends will have a reason to buy you clothing from Forever21! If you dont believe me, here is the proof:

Look at this photo!

Anyhoot, lets see where this particular line takes us before passing judgment.

Fashion Tip of the Week .36

So i recently went up to Melrose to go vintage clothing shopping. And I was truly inspired by some of the people that were walking on the street. And much the mod look is being mixed very well with the prep look. So i know this is out of the ordinary for me and for y'all but i want you to be open about embracing these "looks".

Fashion Tip of the Week #36: So like I said, I would be addressing the jean issue this week. Im not going to give a full account as of right now but i will in future postings.

The big thing now for denim girls, SKINNY LEG jeans. Yup, alot of retail stores are finding that many girls are ditching the boot cut (which is considered unflattering to some). The whole jean tucked in the boot/stilettos (or chucks/vans) are a HUGE!

directions for photos: http://www.habitual.com/ click on 'Habitual Classics' > 'Content' at the bottom right > then click on 'View Skinny Glory' or if you are that lazy then look at these jeans.

Think of the look as from the movie "Grease". When wearing skinny jeans, I suggest wearing loose or very tight tops. Such as these: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

So now you have this look. gluck, and i apologize now if this tip doesnt suit to your taste. gluck!

Fashion Tip of the Week .35 [Girls & Guys Edition]

Stemming from last week's successful FTOW I thought I do another one just like that for y'all!

Fashion Tip of the Week #35: Top 3 Key Pieces for the remaining spring/summer wardrobe!

Men:
1_ Start looking out guys, distressed khakis are the new thing. A modern take on a classic piece.
2_Pair these marni shorts with chucks or slip ons and rock it with your fav tee. Perfect for not looking like a slob.
3_Our answer to the woman's fixation with leopard print. Need I say more?

Women:
1_ The oversized tote. You get the idea.
2_ The cropped jean. Cuffed is even better! Match them up with a layered top or rock it out with a vintage t-shirt. [Recommended brands: 7 for all mankind; Chip and Pepper; Joe Jeans]
3_ Rocker chic. The motorcycle is the way to go. And did i mention, it makes you look slim?! There is something about these types of jackets that make a girl slim in all the right places!

So good luck! And remember...

Fashion Tip of the Week. 34 [Girls & Guys Edition]

Okay girls and guys that time of the week again where u get ur fashion fix! So ive received some complaints that guys dont get enough tips so here is a double one for all!

Fashion Tip of the Week #34: Lets get this started off with guy's top trends for this spring/summer!

GUYS:
1) Nautical look. Bust out those blue blazers and look into big bold stripes in shirts and sweaters. (or look 2, 3)
2) Tommy Bahama look. Very cool, chic, casual.
3) Desert rag, urban explorer. This look is inspired by the sand dunes. You see where im going with this.
4) This next look is dedicated to my friend Jay. Black on black. Black tie over black collared shirt. You get the idea. Think Johnny Cash.
5) Simple piece. Shorter jacket lengths.
6) A simple corporate suit doesnt hurt. Some of you might know this photo from The Transporter
7) Casual Chic. Simple casual pieces with dressy pieces.
8) The rebel. This look entails the rugged pieces. Simple henleys, with denim and boots. And a motorcycle jacket wouldnt hurt either!

GIRLS:
Fall is all about dark and rich colors.
Key fall pieces: All looks are by Luca Luca
1) The coat. Going back to my older recommendation to have a peacoat. Of course this is an exaggeration of that.
2) The plaid dress intrepreting the colors of fall. Simply beautiful and a must have.
3) Again with the colonial american look.
4) Poofy endings on tops. the top is very reminescent of a top that my friend recently bought from Jimmy'Z.
5) LACE LACE AND SOME MORE EMBROIDERY!
6) For the business women in all of you. The pink top softens the rich colors of the pants.

Again I would like to note that these looks arent restricted just to finding the exact same pair. experiment with different wool pants and such. Or use ones that you already have! These looks are templates for you all to go out and find something similar. And hopefully for a much less considerable price! Gluck. And if u have any questions. send it along. ill help ur fashion dilemma!

Fashion Tip of the Week. 33

So wow, I know its been super long since ive put one of these up and IM SO SORRY for the delay! Gosh for the past weeks Ive been soo focused on school and such that ive become a zombie! But now I am able to come back and give y'all the tips i know most of you been waiting for. So lets get the ball rolling. Most of my tips are meant for girls but suprisingly ive been getting such great feedback from alot of people, it has inspired me a whole lots.

Fashion Tip of the Week #33: FIRST I WANNA SAY AFTER 11 MONTHS, THANK YOU TO ALL THAT HAS SUPPORTED THIS SMALL TIP OF THE WEEK BLOG. It has expanded to many around the world and Im glad to say that ive reached over 2000 viewers. So thank you.

So im going to break down the essentials for this spring-fall collection. For this, im going to key in on one particular style: the "Mayflower" Style.

-Girls, i cannot emphasize this enough, WAIST-to-HIPS BUCKLES ARE NO LONGER IN STYLE! Try wearing an oversized belt that sits a few inches above the waist thereby "cinching" your waistline to give yourself a more slimming figure.
-Some tops that you might want to look at are the more victorian-patterned style of a top. The peacoat that accentuates the bust and flares out on the bottom. The charmeuse effect on the blouse to give a bigger bust size.
-The bottoms to have simple pleating and hem lines to accentuate the legs.
-The slingbacks are important, flats are beautiful, curved fronts give the illusion of innocence yet sexy.

Here are some looks, I think would make a perfect fit for today's trends:

Look 1: This top; with tucked in-denim jeans bottom; and a black slimming knee high boot to give that uumph effect.

Look 2: A laced top; long pants to give a taller effect; and these pointed heels to finish the look.

Look 3: These shorts; paired with a simple deep-v top; with a simple slingback pump like this

So i hope this gives you sorta of the idea of where im going at. Gluck. And remember:

Fashion Tip of the Week. 32

Hey So lets get some action going here... this week: "outfits that can be found cheaper". Here are some interpretations that I feel you girls can get into.

Fashion Tip of the Week #32: In this one, i want find outfits that are cheaper version of the actual thing.

From alessandro dell'acqua 1 - what could have been thousands of dollars... at banana republic for 150 bucks you can even pin an out black lace to give it that embroidery look.

2 - alrighty lets breakdown this outfit. Black crop pants from Banana Republic. Grab a scarf, any scarf and tie it put it in the belt loops. Black gloves are simple to get anywhere. The outer top you can get from American eagle or Forever 21. Got a corset? Then pair that underneath. [Or go to papaya].

Lacoste 3 - Aeropostale shorts; hollister polo; American Eagle white jacket; and pair it with any white heels. U got urself a version of that outfit.

Adam Eve 4 - BR Pants; A&F Sweater; And this Forever 21 lace top.

Alrighty, i hope this helps... sorry for the late delay in that. Gluck and ill try to do more of these similar cheap outfits next time!

Fashion Tip of the Week .31

So I spent an hour working on this fashion tip and with just a click, boom, all of it gone! So imma just go with one runway.

Fashion Tip of the Week #31: So y'all pay attention to this runway. This is for both boys and girls. These looks are what y'all need to look at for the fall 2006. This perhaps one of my favorite collections from this Ready-to-wear season.

Adam Eve - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

If you see repetitve looks, then you gotta look at the other person. Some photos, I chose for the guys some for the girls. Just look around. Key things to look at this collection: vests, layering (proper), dresses, shoes, and pants. Enjoy! and next time i will cover more than just one.

Fashion Tip of the Week .30

So YES! How exciting... a brand new tip. AND IT IS EXCLUSIVE! WOOHOO! So man... i know its been awhile. So what is soooo special about this then the others besides the PHOTOS galore that ull see that I HAVE A PODCAST!!! So if you have an iPOD. ull be able to hear it [note: im still working out the kinks and hopefully it works!]. So lets get started!

Fashion Tip of the Week #30: Because this show is a fan favorite to many fashionistas, Project Runway has inspired me to really analyze one runway that I found proven to be very wearable. Im talking about Daniel Vosovic. His runway included great outfits perfect for the business woman. This is inspiration to all of my friends who are about to graduate from college. Girls these are some of the looks ull wanna get. Why dont you put aside those simple suits and look into something more like this!

[Warning: if you dont wanna see this runway because you are in an avid project runway watcher, these contain spoilers]

1 - This outfit spices up the traditional pencil skirt with a floral print jacket with slight embroidery. This spring season keys in on embroidery (reference to past journal entries) and modern updates on classic looks.

2 - Military outfits are back in. You see the shoulder panels? Well those are key elements. Simple blouses can be turned into tops for work really work and can slim down a figure! Once again, emphasis on the pencil skirt

3 - Despite weather conditions in any location, EVERY GIRL should have a peacoat. This one, is very flattering to the woman's body and flares out. Emphasis on the double breasted for a more slimming look and a taller collar. Great great great!

4 - The black dress is BACK IN! Ladies ladies, join this bandwagon now if you havent. Simple black cocktail dresses are the IN thing. Every girl needs to have one and the best part about this... you can wear them casually!

5 - The knit satin top is back in. This protruding white top is an updated look of the ballet top. (Although the girl looks like she is drunk or something).

6 - Top is horrible...lets analyze the pleated skirt. If one is gonna wear a pleated skirt then it is HIGHLY recommended that skirt ends ABOVE the knees. The waist band should is perfect sized and something you take a look at.

Okay so these looks... are KEY to this spring-transition to-fall wardrobe. You may feel that my selection is a little bit drab but these KEY pieces selected above are perfectly capable of casual wear. YES, CAUSAL WEAR! You will see that you can combine a simple pencil skirt with a vintage top. Or a peacoat with cropped pants.

Be fashion forward and go ahead of the crowd. You have the idea now make it happen. By the one that sets the chic trend.

Fashion Tip of the Week .29

So i wasnt planning on putting one up this week because well, ive been busy with midterms and shtick. But since this is really a present for Aly (happy bday girl!) cuz i know she just loves my tips. So a lot is going on in the fashion world this week. Olympus Fashion Week is going on and there is just tons and tons to sort through! I'll update y'all later on that once things settle down for me. So since its a crossover right now for winter/spring collections, why dont I just tell you what you should look out for Spring

Fashion Tip of the Week #29: Here are the trends right now for spring.

_Bold prints - So, I must admit to amber, yes you were right bold prints like flowers are in. But with a little bit of lightness and more flow prints to it. Designers for spring went for the bold patterns and states to evoke a feeling. Ex: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

_The innocents - This category includes eyelets, lace, openwork embroidery, and white dresses. If you have those peasant skirts waiting in the closets, take them out and alter it and make a cute dress out of it! Ex: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

_The Kimono - So Asian fashions are back and movies like Memoirs and 2046 inspired many designers to go asian on this one. Ex: 1, 2

_The New Sexy - Cocktail dresses, slits and bandage dresses seem to make a new statement. Ex: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

_The Reinvented Pantsuit - This doesnt mean you go all power-bitch on everyone. Soft lines create femininity and sexyness. Ex: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

_Shirtdressing - Double breasted shirts/jackets, boyfriend shirt-steelers are finding reason to wear their shirts outside. Ex: 1, 2, 3 (OO btw, for the casual look, girls take a t-shirt [long in length], take a thick belt and wrap it around your waist [not thighs] and a denim mini and you are set)

So I hoped this helped out. You have an idea of what you might wanna look at wearing.

Fashion Tip of the Week .28

So big big big news... fashion week is upon us and im sure therez lots to oogle about. Isnt it crazy how designers already have their fall stuff out. So in true to form, I thought it would be fitting to be presenting you with photos to what you need to be wearing for this Spring.

Fashion Tip of the Week #28:

A large amount of tonal colours are making its way back. Brown, Greys, Black, Nude, Beige. The idea is going with what matches your skin tone.
But of alot of it draws from "Prep" or "Rustic" (ladies there is a huge difference between this and cowboy!).

here are some looks, i think you girls can pull off for this spring.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5

These are samples of what (I feel), will be seen. Now I know this isnt much but come fashion week it will be pouring in.

Fashion Tip of the Week .27 -Guys Edition

So im launching off from the success of my top ten must haves/looks for Spring 2006.

Fashion Tip of the Week #27: Here what your man needs to be wearing for Spring 06. Or even better... what you need to know to tell your male friends to be wearing.

So here are some looks that I think are going to be the success of Spring [Remember to choose things like it]:

1_ Tom Ford Sunglasses -major chic

Looks: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Key pieces: Military styling (cap/pants/shorts); Skinny ties; LONG sleeved tops; SANDALS!; causal chic.

So I hope this helped in shaping out outfits for your man. There is no need for exact replicas or anything like that. You have the concept, now incorporate that with your man's wardrobe. Gluck! And remember:

Fashion Tip of the Week .26

So like i said, this new year is starting off with a BANG! So im starting the year with MUST HAVES for your spring wardrobe! READ!

Fashion Tip of the Week #26: Since most of you girls wait till the actual season to follow the trends (like many others). So here are the top 10 must haves for spring:
1_ Want to minimize that waist? Use a wide belt to make that waist appear smaller. Recommended fabric: sexy red vernis or soft velvet.

2_ Its spring, so lets show some knee! This Daisy Duke inspired look is going beyond and becoming fashionably in...
Teamed with a cropped jacket or a button-down and vest, cuffed shorts.
3_ Minimize what you are carrying... designer bags are becoming even smaller.
4_ The new "NONCOLOR" of the season... NUDE. Yes ladies, that au-naturale color is back. Color of choice to match with NUDE, that would be black.
5_ Rustic colors are back in: teal, a rich turquoise, a rich dirty orange, a copper brown...
6_ The babydoll is back in BUT the sixties styled baby doll look. It has less pleats around the chest area. Examples:
1, 2, 3
7_ Like I stated before, slim is in. But that doesnt mean losing your weight. The Spring must-have pants are
strictly tailored, superlean, and slashed just north of the ankles.
8_ If the small handbag doesnt fit you... then the other accessory you have to have: an extra-large tote.
9_ So another style, if you arent into the rustic look go with the sailor look or use of sailor colors
: blue-and-white sailor stripes and bold brass buttons. Example: 1
10_ Seeking a wedge alternative? Chunky-heel platforms are a perfect match for spring's no-frills silhouette.

So i hope this helped... Remember, try to mix and match but with these top 10 looks for Spring 06.

And remember girls: Check back next week for the next fashion tip! Always dress to look your best (Even if it's a pair of sweats and a tee)!
